580 vs 570

I was just having a chat with my mate, he's in for a 580 and stumbled across some benchmarks..

It's like, the most wierd benches I've seen in my life! Have a look

Since when does the 570 outperform the 580? Or is this true? xD

Lol, something must not have been running properly when thy ran that bench. Either that or the 570 is OC'd to the max.

As stated "drivers at default" and the testsystem is 980X on a G1.Assassin with 12GB RAM powered by Thermaltake Toughpower 1000w xD Nothing was overclocked (Not mentioned anyways) ^^

I think so aswell x)

Must be down to drivers then. The ones they were using for the 580 must have been early ones because I don't see how the 570 could out perform the 580 otherwise especially on a console port.

I don't think they've installed the drivers from the CD or something, or are they so stupid? xD

Maybe just a faulty 580? Monadyex. ^^

for the bench to be true... a simple card swap and driver re-install would only be required.

but, during install both nVidia and AMD/ATi 'poll' the installed cards upon their driver installation - the same driver download will NOT install 'identically' across same vendor / different card type.

also, some games run differently on different gfx cards (manufacturer, and version, revisions). that is why OC3D bench on more than one game

for a true comparison, more than one bench with different apps/games should be compared

There were ofcourse more, but in most cases the 580 had just a small amount of frames more on the count than the 570, which is ackward, and it did blow my mind when I saw this one xD

I pretty sure Motherboards.org is aware of that and i'm guessing they did bench more than one game as well.

thats the average frames, the minimum for the 580 would probably have been better than the 570's and realy thats were it all counts tbh.

an example is my 8800gt gets a better average in cod4/team fortress 2 than my friends 4850 but he has a better minimum so bit of give and take realy, neither of the games droped below playable frames on the quality settings we used, matching 4ghz dualcore 4gb ram when we tested it.

Never trust that site. Hes renowned for beefing the AMD stats cos he is a fanboy. Either they were on different rigs completely or those stats are wrong mate.

Almost thought, cause I've never REALLY heard a single GPU AMD card being faster than the 580, or am I just too tired now? x)

And 570 better than 580 I know is pure BS. Just thought it'd be "funny" to show. ^^

I've never in my life liked that guy I dunno, something "fuzzy" about him

That guy just comes across as an inanimate object to me. Just spouts everything out without really talking about anything. Too much emphasis on presentation; there's not enough honesty involved.

I normally don't start to honk about fanboys unless it's been apparent to me for a long time, but back when I was first getting into hardware I'd see his reviews (along with everyone else's, as you do when you're a noob) and see him as more of a salesman than anything else. I hate bias.
