I expect same temps but ZERO headroom for overclocking further than factory standards.
Well, if the rated TDP is really up 30W then given how Intel use those figures, and the power draw of the 9900K, the power consumption/thermal output under full boost is probably going to be like 200W. Far from impossible to cool but you'll want something beefy, this is FX-9590 territory.

Probably still based on Skylake and quite likely lots of hidden vulnerabilities that will be found within a few weeks, Not forgetting to mention Intels highly questionable IME, No thanks.

I really want to move away from Intel due to comments like these. Had my eye on a 3900X but thought of it as more of a side-grade...
Thats my problem as well, as I only use the machine I am typing this on for gaming and there is no benefit for me swapping from a 7700K to either a 9900K, 3x00x or 3950x.
The games I mainly play barely use the cpu to 100% at 1440p other than Division 2 and Destiny 2, but Elite Dangerous only uses my cpu to 40% and the gpu to 60% to 80%, so for me it's just a side grade for a stupid cost.
When games start to struggle because of the cpu then I will think about an upgrade but I think, by the time that happens the cpu will probably be dead anyway.

I went from a Intel 2500k to a ryzen 1700 huge boost but if your on something more modern you can get a few more years out of it yet.

Kind of the same situation for me. I have a 2700x and had the chance of buying a 3900x..... in the end I did not go for it.
I game and some video making but only for family. So - gaming at 1440p and 4k then there is too little jump for me to justify the price of a 3900x from the 2700x.
Will probably wait for the next ryzen.
Yeah I have a Ryzen 2700x as well in my 2nd system, but for my main machine I am just going to wait and see what the next Ryzen cpu's offer.
Even then though I don't know if I will upgrade, I think more than anything the deciding factor for me to upgrade will be when the 4790K in my dad's system dies and then I will upgrade and he will get my 7700K.
