4K Benchmarks

It will be at least two years before we have GPUs that can run 4k at a reasonable framerate as well as 4K monitors being a affordable.

There are some fairly cheap 4K TVs for £1000 knocking around but apparently they can only do 30 FPS at 60hz.

I think considering the vast majority haven't even stepped up to 1440p yet i'm def in no rush to get 4k. Especially if it's not gonna run particularly well anyway

yep I'm still on 1080p and I'm not planning to upgrade until the monitor dies, if it survives another 5 years, so be it. Then maybe I'll upgrade to 1440p or 1600p

Same here mate. I have a 1080p monitor I'm very happy with and would only upgrade to as you say 1440 or 1600 next, if at all

Does this mean we can replace " will it run crysis?" with " will it run crysis at 4k?" :P I'll probably just pick up a 1440p monitor when I can afford it. 4k doesn;t really interest me tbh.

Haha, It's gonna be crazy when we see the first single GPU capable of running games such as crysis 3 at 4k 60fps.

I wonder how much vram or the memory buses will be like with all those textures being processed. I think at 4k AA will become obsolete.

10 years? I give it 4 years max along with adopting 4k.

We are just now seeing single cards that can keep 60fps at 2560x1600 on Crysis 1 and that came out in what, 2007.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see it sooner, but I would really like to be realistic about it.

AA helps make things look more real. It makes things look more natural. Its just heavy on the GPU. With 4k there are so many pixels on the screen and they are so small that AA becomes useless as the end result of its processing can't be seen by the human eye because everything is already so crisp and sharp.

Edit: Crysis 1 is poorly optimized. It's not really a be all and all fact.

The article on hexus.net ran the Titan in 4k ok...

I'm not bothered about 4k, I'd only be interested to see movies in 4k. Apparently our cinema is 4k, but I dunno. :S

i'm don't really care about 4k, but i am glad that it is finally being brought to market

it will force improvement in many ways, stronger gpu's for gaming, stronger internet for streaming 4k content, better consumer cameras for recording 4k! the list is endless

Also improve how much money companies can start charging just because products will advertise "4K capable!". Sad but true.

everything starts at a high cost though, remember the original plasma and lcd tv's.
everything will eventually get a lower price tag, look at the current price of a ps3 compared to launch.

Actuslly i do not remember as i was only a child when those came out lol. But ya everything starts off expensive but a lot of companies overcharge extra and that slows adoption of new tech.
