4790k Overclocking Noob

Heya!

So I received my Asus Maximus VII Formula and 4790k,

All installed well (pics to come shortly) after a little mishap with water getting onto the brand new motherboard (shit happens)

Anyhow, I'm not new to overclocking, but I am brand new to overclocking Intel, the last chip I overclocked from Intel was the Q9450 that had a FSB. My, how things have changed!

The wealth of options have on this board have somewhat blown me away. So many options!

Anyhow,

Here's what's what:

I have left everything default in terms of all the settings to do with overclocking, except I have disabled EIST and Turbo Boost and C States.

So the DigiVRM etc etc are all on auto, including LLC.

I set the multiplier to 46 to give my 4.6Ghz and I entered my XMP Profile for the RAM (I'll do this manual later)

I set the CPU Voltage to 1.2v and here's the stress testing screenshot.

Do my temps look good? and is my voltage good for that clock? and do I have headroom for more?

Also, do I.. or should I mess with other settings, or is auto okay for now?

One big difference is you will need to check for WHEA errors now. An unstable OC will not just crash you computer like it used too. That can be found in the event view under Windows Logs/System. Temps look great.

Thanks for the heads up! Just checked the log and hardly any errors, mostly just normal information logs.

Currently at 4.8Ghz with 1.225v with temps hitting around 70c with fans on silent mode pretty much.

I might aim for 4.9 / 5Ghz with 1.25v but I've heard that I shouldn't go above that.
