4.5GHz Celeron.. on AIR! OC Master? LOL

Hey guys.. I'm ill as some of you know, so I thought I'd have a bit of fun.

I put in my dads old Celeron 2.53GHz, single core.. and thought I'd have a bit of fun with it :) I managed to get it up to 4.5GHz without too much hassle, although it run very hot, 50°C+ in the BIOS alone so.. God knows what it was like booting in to Windows or loading up apps.

What do you guys think? Bearing in mind that this is on AIR cooling.. :) Room ambient is 22°C at the moment.

First attempt, managed to get up to 4GHz without too much hassle...

Second attempt, here came the 4.5GHz babey.. poor thing LOL!

I didn't want to push it much further as the Vcore it needed was pretty huge. It has a massive Vdroop which is a shame to be honest.. would have liked to OC it even more.. maybe some other day! Although, I got a message saying that I can't boot in to Windows due to a recent hardware change, although it booted twice and on the third time it wouldn't let me.. stupid thing!

Enjoy :)

LOL it boots up at 4.5GHz as you can see, though when I tried to boot at 4.75GHz.. just wouldn't allow me.

Any way, I think the temps where a bit too high any way, 52°C in idle in the BIOS, imagine what they were like in Windows at 100% load? Owch! LOL

To gain any points you need a minimum of 5ghz, and the current WR is 6.5.

Push it harder. :awhip:

LOL I only did it for a bit of fun, to push it harder I think I need to go on water cooling any way! :(

Or.. wait until it's winter time, and then take my rig out side when it's about 5C outside. Will this cause condensation problems?

Couldn't test, didn't have software to be able to find out.. CoreTemp doesn't work as it isn't a "Core" Architecture and neither did RealTemp. I suspect it was pretty high though as the air coming out of the top of my case was warm near the CPU area.. and that has never happened before with my E2140 at 50C so.. telling you something? LOL

Ahhh NO! I had that downloaded as well, never thought about using it..!

I'll have to have another benching session when I get some more AS5. I currently have a little bit left.. don't want to run out before I can get this chip back in here.

Would water help me to be able to overclock it a lot more? Also, what would be the amount I need to spend on it to get a lot higher? I priced up a decent set up and it is going to be around £200 just for a CPU loop.. that is very expensive and I really don't want to be paying that much, what kind of things can I cut back on, the pump is the first that springs in to my mind.. but what else?

Dude I got an Intel E2140 at the moment.. I don't really need a better CPU that badly LOL

That CPU is an old one, from about two or three years back (when it first got released) I got it so.. I was just having a bit of fun :)

Brend, of course you need a better cpu, you need 2 QX9775's and a skulltrail! :D

Then again your getting a Q6600 GO like me soon are you not?

There good chips :)

You might need an upgrade on the psu if your looking for any big oc's (3.5+)

Eitherway ill give the celeceron a run for its money when it arrives!

(and i get my new wc :p)

If you can get that celeron at 4.5 that should outperform your Pentium should it not!

Get some dry ice on that bad boy!

Yeah mate, I am getting a Q6600.. just hope I get a good batch that loves to OC!

Yeah when you get the CPU, give it a run for it's money :)

I'm getting a new PSU as and when I need it, most likely before the CPU. Although I am going to be getting a 4870 before anything else.. my current dual core is fast enough and no game is currently CPU limited that I am aware of..

That overclock was excellent. Reps given as you are the only 15 year old that I know of took a chip to 4.5ghz. Nice one.

Haha thank you, I am thinking of giving it another bash before I send Lynx's motherboard back to him with that CPU for him to have a bashing with it.

I think I can get to 5GHz if I up the volts enough! Need to get my room cold though, bring on the cold week coming! :)

More reps will be given if you can take upto 5ghz on air.

Its a shame there isn't any overclocking competition going on in Overclock3D coz with your skills you're bound to win.

If it was for air cooling only.. I might have a chance, otherwise not :(

I will do my best to get it to boot at 5GHz and do a couple of SP1Ms with it.. shall see how that goes, I might not though .. depends how much AS5 I got left :(

Not to brag, but I am currently in first position to win a DFI P45 JR motherboard on another forum for my current OC record.. 1hr of Orthos on my E2140 @3.4GHz :)

matter of fact you will defo get reps if you can hit that 5ghz boundary regardless if you do it on water or air. Which ever suits u. btw which board r u overclocking on.
