Has anyone else seen that new system on Scan's website ?

The 3XS Chameleon

If you look at the options / configure list....

"Chameleon Heat Sensitive Custom Spray Finish & Case Modification (£1,225.00) add £1,225.00"

£1,225 for a paint job

Even just the standard paint option is £650.

I can't see many people adding that in the options list

Also, if you go through the configuration options, and spec it out to the max it comes out to over 7 grand, for which is really only a basic SLi rig with 20" TFT & speakers.

Seems a tad OTT if you ask me.

Especially if you compare it to a Bespoke system from EP.

The scans rig doesn't even have 7800GTXs.

*Rant Over* ;)

Expensive to start - total ri-off at the end - why bother?

Phil's stuff aint cheap, but seeing things like that makes you appreciate that Phil offers a great cost effective solution at an affordable price.

That's to say it looks like it's worth what you paid.

The Legend

I saw this the other day. I wonder how good their pain job is? After recently buying a anodised case from Phil I can't see how it would come close to it.

Another company offered the same paint as used on the TVR....the shimmering stuff which is a snip at £500 per litre. If I had the money, I would consider that for some BLING for my case. I think. Or I could buy an FX or a Mach...

The difference in finish on a case that phil supplies compared to a case done with the £500 a litre TVR paint is probably minimal. Why would anyone pay £1000+ for an anodised case when you can get one thats just as good from phil for like £300 :S - obviously if you had money to waste but thats not the point.

I spoke to this one bloke (some random on my msn) who does custom pc painting and he charges between £1000-2000 because the finish is that of a ferrari - silly money!

Phil

I think thatys why they were using TVR paint... to try and make it look better. It kinda worked, but not totally.

"You cant polish a turd, but you can stick a flag in it"

That TVR paint stuff is too OTT for a computer IMO, looks like you are trying too hard, Phil's cases look stunning (best paint jobs i have ever seen) but with the smooth finish and single colour, dont look like they are trying to hard to look good, they just do.
