3770k vs 2600k 4.6ghz temps?

hey fellas. im insterested in getting a 3770k and i am not an extreme overclocker so i was wondering what the temps of ib will be at 4.6ghz which is wot il be using in oc vs the 4.6ghz 2600k temps. if theyre both similar in this region im thinking of just getting a 3770k as i will probs not oc to 5ghz anywayz. also note that i have a noctua nhd14 so keep that into consideration (coz i hrd ib dosnt really take advantage of aftermarket coolers). what do you guys think? should i get an ib or sb at that oc range with a noctua? cheers peeps!

Dont know if this will help you but I have my 2600K @4.4 with an NH-D14 and my temps are around 40c at idle and 60c at load. If it was my choice I would choose the newest technology. Go for the 3770K.

Each chip is different, so we cannot possible answer exactly what your temps of your specific chip will be under 4.6GHz. Plus, it's not the core speeds, it's the increase in voltages which cause more heat, some chips need more volts than others at set frequencies, others need less. It's just the silicon lottery.

I think if you put both cpu's @ same clockspeed and vcore , with same cooler , the 3770 will have better temps due to lower TDP .

I'm just guessing because like said above it's silicon lottery .

My 3770k set at 4.4 gives core readings from 56-65 under full burn ibt. Core voltage can be as low as 1.152 stable(full load) if I want but I choose to keep it bumped up to 1.18 under full load. the cooler is the nh-d14 in a coolermaster 942 case. case fans set to lowest speed d14 fans using low speed adaptors and ambient around low 60's f.

Funny thing is after 4.4 you really have to bump the voltage to go further. to get 4.5 its 1.2x 4.6 is 1.3 and 4.7 never got stable at 1.32. also at 1.32/4.6 the temps go bonkers into the 90's. the max you should think about with vcore is 1.35 that is considered ok for short term testing and maybe even day to day if your temps below 90ish(think custom water or better) but I would not keep 1.35 for my day to day as to me that seems really high. if you could or would buy a new chip in a year or 2 or 3 then its fine but I plan to keep mine for several years.

1 would go 4.4(in fact I do) for 24/7 as even if you could get 4.7 it is 9ish percent boost and hardly worth it considering how hard you have to stress the system to get it.

The short story is with decent air cooling you can run this chip at 4.4 all day long with low vcore and low temps. 4.5-4.7 is iffy and beyond is wishful thinking. Some may get higher (7ish with lnc) but for day to day not trashing your chip without crazy cooling 4.4 - 4.7 max.

On my 3770k @ 4.6 1.3V(recomended min voltage for 4.6 1.275 BSOD ^.^) runing IBT, max temp 83C using SilverArrow but in games etc never went above 65C as i havent seen any performance incresse in BF3 stock vs 4.6 same goes for 3dMark 11 im runin it back on Stock, I might start OCin it when i get new GPU as Im buying intel protection plan i have no worries
