which core would be better value for gaming?

i know they both run at 2.2Ghz and the only difference is the extra 512k of cache. will this scale game frame rates as much as a clock increase?

i am a pureist so i want the best possiable core for gaming in my budget. thanks :)

The 3700+ is the best value for money and clocks really well with most of them hitting 3ghz easily on no special cooling.

well the extra cache might give an overhead in some situations but will be a drag in others.

for example superpi runs FASTER with 512kb cache then with a bigger 1024kb cache.

I have a 3500 running at 2.2ghz still with standard cooling. Is it worth an overclock or do these cards not OC well? I see a lot of you are saying that the 3700+ OC's better. Is that chip particularly good, or is mine just really bad? :p

Any info would be good, very new to all this business, but if I can extra performance, might as well have a pop

Well ive got a 3500 newcastle atm. Ive got a 3200 venice on the way. downgrade? nope. the venice will clock higher (i hope...)

So yeah, give overclocking it a go, the x11 muti is also good.

Have it running at 2.4ghz easily with stock cooling. Might try a couple of case fans and a bigger heat sink + fan and see if I can manage 2.6 or 2.8
