Is HD DVD and Blu-Ray technology on borrowed time?
The inquirer reports on this chestnut that suggests (to me) in 5 yrs both will be dead:
A JAPANESE AND an Israeli firm have teamed up to create a single sided optical disk which can store 300GB.
According to nikkei.net, the disk is being built by Memory-Tech Corp and Mempile with the disk having over 100 layers.
The report said the firms will commercialise a product inside three years. Manufacturing won't require any special kit but players will need to incorporate tech that reads the disks.
