£300

Do you play games?

If so i rekon you'd do better spitting the cash between a GPU and a monitor.

If not a Dell 2407-HC :D.

Wirth the ATI 3850pros there has never been a better time to want to buy a graphics card, they rock!

If you play games, I'd say (as ham has) get a new GPU & monitor

For £300 you could get a 22" TFT & a Geforce8800 & still have money to spare :)

Appart from that, your spec in your profile seems pretty good :)

Also one thing that might be worth looking at is your PSU, just in case it isn't powerfull enough for a 8800

Dell E248FWP. Cost me £300.. Better investment I think than the 8800 GTS I bought with the rest of my monies.

thanks for all the advice guys, i've decided to go for a dell 1908 (the 2407 was too big to fit on my desk) and a 8800 gts seems like a damn good investment for the future.:worship:

as for upgrading the psu, if i do get an 8800 then i probs will have to get a new one. but that can wait for th time being

Cool :)

Isn't the 1908 a 4:3 ratio monitor?

i have it and its great!!!

Then you have plenty to spare for a nice gfx card..

*edit: how about this?

Well, i have had a W240D for almost a month now, and it is by far the most beautiful monitor i have used ... look at the specs:

Diagonal Size 24" - widescreen

Response Time 2 ms

Image Contrast Ratio 3000:1

FULL HD READY ( HDMI )

However, you will need £40 more which may not be possible in your case, if it is then i would save up and get this monitor!

£340 : http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=w240d&btnG=Search+Products&hl=en&show=dd&scoring=p

Gd luck!

I have a Dell 2405 and a Dell 2407 and they are both seriously awesome moniotors

I have to say though, with £300 you're better off with a GFX and 22" Monitor

Id spend it on drugs, women and one great night out somewhere.

If you wanted to make it last, dont, I have no idea what comp you have but watercooling maybe? Can never have enough cooling

or maybe a decent graphics card and a set of RAM?
