right jus got sum 3.0E's in at work. been wonderin 2 myself 4 the last half hour if i should take 1 home and test it in my mach, as ive heard these chips only come into there own at high clocks. also these all seem 2 clock pretty well with extreme coolin due 2 the high heat they output. hmmmmmmmm a stable 4.2E would b nice :D

prescotts aint too good mate, they get pretty damn hot :(
ye they run at about 10c hotter than northwoods, but ppl ave got sum pretty good clocks from them usin phase change systems. e.g customPC mag has a 2.8E runnin at 4gig on a mach II. it will b intrestin 2 c sum benchmark resuls of a overclocked 3.0c @ 4.1 compared 2 a oc 3.0E @ 4.1, as many ave said prescotts come into there own at v.high clocks.

far as I can see (being an ex Intel person ;) ) the change in architecture was required to allow clock speed to scale up over time, yup they have heat issues (hence the push for btx standard) but the design of these chips will allow the clock speeds to go much higher than is possible with Northwoods (its all to do with new dielectric layer materials, strained silicon substrates etc). Once they move onto 65 nm processes & below they should fly & be a bit cooler..

Just been reading on xtreme systems so guy got his new 3.0c Prescott to 4.7 under a Mach II

is that with a standard mach II  think ill take one of these babies home. c how it fairs in my setup. if i can hit that magical 4.5gig :D

if you can try it for free, i wud definately :P

Phil, it seems a lot of people post what speeds they can boot windows at which isnt always prime/game stable, unlike us :P I can boot stable with this crappy CPU at 3.9 but it aint Prime stable, i aint tried much in between but its runs smooth at 3.725 i know my new CPU will be 4ghz stable tho ;)

ye unless u get a M0 steppin 2.8 there pretty pants 4 clockin, my 2.8 was the same as urs mate, only 3.7 stable. but ive got a 3.0c wich is 4.1 stable. im gonna take this prescott home and c wat it can do. ill post sum pics of my rig, and sum benchies hopefully by the end of nxt week, as im re decoratin my room so my pc is all boxed up :(

redecorating sux :( i only had this room built last summer but the decorator painted it with matt paint and it gets scuffed well easily and becoz im often taking my PC to my friends house in ilford its making a mess of my walls, gonna have to get em re-painted with some of that 10x tougher dulux paint stuff :D

lol ye i saw that 10x paint, it was 2 expensive tho so i left it on the shelf :D

Tell us the stepping mate...

if its one of the new D0 ones get one :D

in fact i may get one too :D

the one that phil says is the new D0 with the revised cores...run about 10C cooler they say...

will wait and see...
