Preliminary tests indicate that it does synthetic stuff really well (3Dmark etc) sitting above the 8800gts and slightly below the 8800GTX, BUT in games it is pretty much outperformed by the gts (and obviously the gtx)...

I hear due to the nature of the hardware (something about shaders) that a driver upgrade won't make much of a difference in performance.

I'm gutted this card has turned out to be a flop imo.

Having said that, this card might shine in dx10...

What does everyone else think about this card?

It's a flop solely in the fact that ATI had 6 months after the release of G80 to create a truly killer card which SHOULD be king of the hill and upon release only rivals a GTS. That's sad IMO.

But, they did price it appropriately, which makes up for a lot of it.

thanks for the nice comments, it makes me feel a bit better for buying it...

the other thread i made, asking for Red or Green, i did say i was going Green.......but my card refuse to give payment to that retailer for some reason, so i turned to ST (someone in ST couldnt get my PM...for a pre-order..), ST said Monday it will have stock, so i waited till monday lunch time and ordered it!

plus, the price of it really is not bad, and went for it......even tho it was a flop

ahwell, aleast it has 'flames' to make up for the flop tho! LOL

I don't think it's a flop, it's just not a hit. ATI need to expediate their next gen imo or then they will be in trouble

Very nice, i went for the gts though, still really nice look, shame you will lose the cover if you water cool it.

Hahaha even if it is a flop im sure it still pwns. Just becasue its not the best the price really does make up for it. If i wasnt such an Nvidia fanboy (keeping nvidia gpu with nvidia chipset) id get one.

If it was me, cleaning the room would be the last thing on my mind
