2600k Over clock help needed

hi i have a nhd14 cooler

2600k cpu

gigabyte z68 ud4 mobo

hi need help for proper overclock read guid but too much text and looks dificult (please note it is my first time ocing)

so i downloaded touch bios and used quick boost to overclock to 4.58ghz (but read some where thats not porper oc)

ps i ran prime 95 for 15 20 min and temps wer around 48 - 54 C is that good

ne can any one give me simple steps to oc the cpu

go back and read those guides. If your not going to bother to learn how and why of overclocking. then why do it. Saying theres to much text and it looks to difficult is knida lame mate. You need to read and understand first .

Now the one button method while what we hee dont consider proper overclocking is still overclocking. the reason we say it isnt proper oc'n is because you dont learn how to overclock by simply pushing a button. That doesnt help you learn.

So please go back and read and understand what its about dont come looking for a quick simple answer (when it comes to overclocking) here as thats not what we are about.

P.S. I hope this was not to much text for you to read.

Well yes and no. The basic principles will apply. However, overclocking is different with each CPU, for example your 2600k may do 4.7 GHz at 1.4 Volt while another one does 4.8 at 1.4 Volt. Honestly it is all about finding the limits of your chip and exploring its potential. One touch overclocking buttoms are not nearly as spot on in terms of Voltage and Frequency. Manual overclocking is a bit hard, but it will give you better clocks (better/ lower Volts, higher Frequencies). Honestly the only information taken from a guide, is a max voltage and some specific mainboard bios settings.
 
hi followed couple of guides

getting bsod

once when windows loaded got bsod

and then i changed vcore and windows booted but as soon as i ran prime 95 kabam! BSOD

any one here got same mobo and cpu ram as me (z68 ud4)&(2600k) ripjaws 9.9.9.24 1600mhz memory

and have a 4.6ghz oc

can you please give be your bios settings
 
Leave your RAM as is for the time being mate. Have the frequency on 1333 and don't touch the timings until you have a stable OC. What error code do you get on the BSOD?

You most likely just need to increase your vcore until you are stable. What is your vcore at currently?
 
Its not as simple as just posting some settings and then you typing them. Every single cpu is different mate. Settings that will work for some, wont work for others. trust me, it wont help even if someone posted their bios settings. Sandy Bridge overclocking is all about setting yourself an overclock and then getting to the desired multiplier while being in a reasonable voltage spectrum.
 
Aurus is right. You need to play with the settings until your CPU is stable. It may take more or less volts to have it stable when compared to other CPU's at a similar clock.
 
hi my vcore was 1.32 1.35 now i set default settings

plus setting ram as 1333 isnt that downgrading as my ram is ripjawsx cas9 1600mx or should i leave it auto

plus on ocuk site it states donot exceed vcore past 1.4
 
what do i disable or enable in bios

as 1 site said disable some settings in bios and was watch a video on youtube he said enable them from auto

such as

speed spectrum

Hyperthreading

c1e

c3/c6 state

cpu eist function
 
Just increase the voltage by .05 volts and retest until you get a stable OC. For a 4.6GHz a good starting point would be a 1.25 vcore setting. Read up on some guides and it should be very easy. You can't just give up on the guides if they seem too long to read.

hi i did 3d mark 11 test and my ram was showing as 800mhz

any one know why

always double what it says lol 1600MHx ram is 800MHz in most programs that read it. like my 1866 shows as933.7MHz

i just lowered

vcore to 1.345 from 1.365

multi-step 6

and i got around 48-51 C on load

i set it yesterday at the same setting and got a BSOD but then again i think it was because i had multi-step set to 4

any way heres the screen what you think

cool do another cpu-z validation and replace the one in ur sig. Also not the one in your sig at 4.6 with 1.38Vcore. I know you have it set at 1.36 in bios but thats the multi step uppping it for stability. mine did the same for my 5.3GHz validation. I had it set to 1.6 in bios level 6 upped it to 1.68

where it supposed to be 9.9.9.24

and vcore shows 1.344 normal 1.35 on load but when i validate it goes to 1.368
