2500k not always enough for xf 79x0?

but thats another thing, in bf3 anyway, the single player is not anywhere near as system hungry, sp only loads me around 30% on the cpu and i can run higher iq settings on my gpu.

you see i think this could be the root of some of the discrepencies we are seeing when people are saying bf3 is this and bf3 is that,

1 guy is talking about sp while the next is mp?

but then that brings up another issue, what is mp doing that so much harder than feeding the ai in the sp?

something else i have seen, bf3 only loads amd x4 and core 2 quads about the same % wise but the 25k gives more fps with the same gpu.

personally i think bf3 is just lazy code or limited depending on the cpu/gpuid it reads.

m+p i think its a great idea mate and if i can add anything to it to help i would.

As a generalisation, when you play offline, every character you face (on your map) has it's informations on your harddrive, AI working locally, often predefined. Online, the same informations are saught, but have to come from each user. Can be a massive difference.

... I dunno so much.

The more information you can get, from the higher end to lower end, mixed setups - the more you can prove theories. Even if, like as you said, you have a 1g card - perhaps that's why your cpu is using more than others might ? (it's a guess, I don't know) But let's say you play a game that demands over 1g, all of a sudden Windows decides you need to start using onboard memory to compensate. The cpu will have to take ~some~ kind of hit (maybe) to act as a liason between the gpu and mainboard memory ? Stick in a 1.5g card and suddenly you're down to 30/40% max when gaming.

That's just a wild theory thrown out as an example. No truth in it as far as I know. But without a test, who knows for sure.

This could be it, I have a 1.2gb card and I run bf3 on ultra I have recorded using 1300-1400mb of vram so could be the issue whatever the case my game runs 100% smooth on ultra @ 50fps and looks the same (smoothness) on low with a graphical punch to the face of course and 75fps average but I always run on ultra so it doesn't matter to me. My system ram is around 6gb used out of 8gb but I also leave things open like chrome with tabs, steam and itunes.

after reading marseys post I should say I'm saying everything about multiplayer I am yet to do single on pc (beat it on console before I built my rig)

That's another tricky thing to compare. Cos I do everything on the internet at home on a Mac, the gaming pcs just do gaming. Nothing else installed on them, Win7 is fine tuned, and hence I tend to judge all the results I see as purely what the game is doing. Most people would have to tack onto that; anti-virus;ie/chrome/etc;itunes/library;download stuff, and anything else.

I have not notuced any bottleneck with my 2500K @ 5.5ghz
