2070, vs 2070S (air). 2070 VS Titan XP (water)

OK so phase one is complete. Just figured I would do this for any one considering the cheap 2070s doing the rounds right now. Mine was £365.

Test setup is as follows, this is the AIR test not the water test.

X99 Godlike gaming
16gb quad channel DDR4 2666
16 core Haswell Xeon @ 2.4ghz

KFA2 2070 Super OC - clocked to 1965mhz
Asus 2070 Dual Advanced Evo - clocked to 1900mhz (hard lock)

Nothing has changed here apart from the GPU. Both using the new driver.

TBH it was a lot closer than I thought it would be.

Next week I will be testing the 2070 under water VS my Titan XP. Though do note, that will be a in a different rig with a Threadripper. I shall add the results as and when.
 
I'm kinda suprised it's as close as that making me rethink, but I'll wait and see what comes out first, the prices could be way to high on the newer cards if so the 2070 base could be a much better option looking at them results, I honestly thought it would be a bigger gap.

I am pretty sure the 2070 Super will clock higher. And, I think that is the main uplift.

It's around 10% faster than the 2070 with the 2070 at the fixed limit of 1900mhz. The Super will go more. So I would say both overclocked you are right around the 15% mark which is what you would expect.

The clock speeds for the 2070 are totally lame tbh. 1500 something stock with 1600 boost, some 300mhz short of where I had mine. My 2070s boost pretty much stock to 1965 easily.
 
yea that's actually a fair difference clock wise by the time I'm ready the new cards will be out so I have a ways to go yet, plus I am doing a really bad job at saving :D

I'm leaning towards the 2080S but tbh the price would have to drop a little or the newer cards offer more for the same, I enjoy putting a build together and testing things it's an exspensive hobby to enjoy only get to do the fun stuff now and then :D
 
I tried to run the benchmarks under water. I am hitting over 2ghz now which is nice. However, 3dmark seems to hate this Threadripper. Well, at least Firestrike, which gives me a score about HALF of the above ones.

Yet in gaming it absolutely rips. Due to issues I did not bench the Titan XP under water either.
 
3dm doesn't like Threadripper at all. It scores my 12 core 3900x far higher than my 16 core 2950x. It seems to prefer the beefier IPC.

12000 in Firestrike instead of nearly 23000 on my other rig lol.

Sadly because of crap loads of issues I didn't get time to bench the XP, and it's packed away ready to go off to a friend of mine.

Results for my Titan Xp CE (stock/ref. cooling) :
Settings : 1911MHz[Max.]/12800MHz @ 0,95V [max.] (fan speed = 100%, since you were on water).

CPU was OC'ed to 4,3GHz, with 32GB of memory at 2133MHz CL9.11.11.31 CR2T.
