2014 Gaming PC Build Plan

Hello there!
I am currently planning on building myself a new gaming PC. I will be using it mostly for gaming and everyday stuff, so no video rendering or photo editing.
Since you lot know more than I, I was hoping someone could give me help with it! :D

I have gone for a Blue and Black colour theme.

Here is my planned build:

CPU: i5 3570k - £161.17

CPU Cooler: H100i - £86.50

Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-M PRO - £101.20

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4) 1600Mhz (BLUE) - £63.50

PSU: Corsair CX600M - £53.61

Case: Corsair 350D Windowed - £85.39

GPU: ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU - Already own. Is this card to outdated?

Total = £553.64
(I will be getting everything off Amazon since I have Prime. I will also be getting some blue braided cables and some other things to pretty it up! :))

My budget is £600 MAX.

I would appreciate it if someone could give me some feedback or any better alternatives to what I have come up with.
Mainly is there anything that I could save money on for the same performance? (or better?)
I was also wondering if this set up would be current enough for gaming in 2014 and beyond?
Is there anywhere else with better prices? (I live in the UK).

Bearing in mind that I'm going for a BLUE and BLACK theme!

Anyway, sorry for the random question littered around but any help is appreciated! :D

I would rather get the Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 case over the 350D if it was me.

I would also be temped to sell the GPU and put the money towards something like a 280x.

thanks for the reply!

I actually considered the Arc mini r2 but the problem was that it is slightly longer then the 350D and the length of the 350D was already pushing it. (I have desk size restraints :P)

Also how much do you think I could get for the graphics card? and where is the best place to sell it?

thanks again!

You can't have it haning off the desk a little? I have my R4 slightly over the edge, its feet are back a little so it can still fit(its on top of my desk)

Depends on where you sell it i guess. I live in the US so i don't really know many UK places to sell.

Yeah I get your point but I dunno I think I like the looks of the 350D more anyway. Why do you suggest the arc mini r2 over the 350D btw?

Well I'll stick with it for now and probably upgrade later.

What's your current setup like?

Depending on what you have, you'd probably get away with just keeping it and putting that £500 towards a really high end GPU like a GTX 780 or R9 290.

I'd go for the 350d over the Arc mini. The mini is better for watercooling. In terms of GPU the 560ti is starting to become a bit behind times so I'd suggest what zoot said as well and save up for a gpu after you've done the build, anything from a 280x to a 780 would be a good choice :)

why not buying a haswell architecture? If you're buying now you should always try and go for the latest architecture unless the price difference is massive.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

As for my current set up (brace yourselves)
CPU: E8400 @ 3.5 Ghz (not much of an oc but i have the stock cooler so..)
Motherboard: P5N73-AM
RAM: 4GB of DDR2 at 400mhz (i think)
GPU: gtx 560 Ti
Case: Cooler Master Centurion

Got this PC in 2009! SO as you can see I really need an upgrade, and the GPU isn't highest priority atm.

And as to getting Haswell over IB, well I heard that IB was more oc friendly and yes the prices aren't to different for say a i5 4670k but both architecture are dead ends anyway, and the performance isn't all to different.
But I could be speaking out of my arse so what do you guys think?

Are you going to be over clocking a lot this time, it's just the H100i seems quite expensive and perhaps a tad excessive?

My friend has a very similar rig which is a little cheaper in some areas but better performing in others, perhaps it would be a better balanced build for gaming. Bearing in mind your 560Ti will have a resale value perhaps you could axe the H100i, save money on the motherboard and sneak in a new graphics card and stay in budget?

Hello and thanks JR,

I was hoping to get 4.4Ghz oc on it so, yes I can understand how the H100i looks a little excessive but it also helps with the fact that the 350D has no dust filter in the roof so putting the H100i in there would solve that as well as cool the cpu sufficiently.
