1TB External HDD USB 2/3 no mains power

do you guys know of/recommend any 1TB external hard drives that don't need mains power to run, like they use 2 usbs or something?

also any with usb 2 and 3 support would be good as my pc has usb3 but laptop only usb2

if not, should i go for a mains powered prebuilt one or put a 1TB drive in to a caddy?

You wont get anything thats NOT 2.5" to run without external power fella. So tbh its either pay a mint or get one with external power.

As for the prebuilt ect, USB is limited bandwidth wise, look at the usb3 caddys. Ive reviewed a dock already but buying now USB3 is a no brainer. It can give a hdd enough bandwidth to run like it was internal

also are usb3 devices back compatible, eg will it work just at usb2.0 speeds?

yeah they are back compatable just fine, same as 2.0 and 1.0
