118800 - Mobile Phone Number Directory

Key things are that u can opt out and that the service doesn't give ur number away, but attempts to patch the person through to u, to which u can refuse. Each time the service used costs £1.

Doesn't seem that life threatening.

If my phone goes and I don't recognize the number, I don't answer it anyway. Phone usually has headphones plugged into it anywho.

Refuse to have my phone rule my life as I see it do to so many people.

To be fair it's less invasive than the old telephone directory for landlines. There u have the same opt out option (which would take a year) and all ur info is there.

What will be the coop is when the number listings are leaked, as u know they will be.

TBH it aint any different to directory enquiries. That has your home phone number etc. Your number is never revealed, you are just forwarded through, and given the option to refuse. It will be like reverse charging, it will come on with a little recorded message of who you are and then you can choose to accept or refuse.

I aint bothered tbh. I'm more concerned about all the surviellance that the state has on my everyday life. Someone being able to contact me if they lost their mobile phone or similar is fine by me. This service could potentially be extremely useful.

I dont see what all this panic is about. I'm not concerned. What I AM concerned about is being survielled over 300 times a day by CCTV cameras, having my internet connection monitored and my phone calls logged all by the government.

C'mon, the media are expecting ya'll to be outraged and make loads of follow-up interviews!

Guess this'll dwindle away to the background cos it has a few +ve things..
