Scalping at retail - The UK Retailer that tried to charge £3000 for an RTX 3080 Ti...

This is disgusting. We shouldn't stand for this.

Read more about CCL UK's attempt to sell an RTX 3080 Ti for £3600.

That really is gross. Thanks a lot for standing up for the PC community. I have a lot of respect for this site and all its staff and those helping out. CCL could end up losing money as a result of their petty attempt to get in on the rat race that's happening at the moment, and that would be fair.

Unless prices come back down to sane levels i.e way way below the 1000 quid mark, Then whenever my 2080 Ti bites the dust I'll be moving on from PC gaming, While that sucks I cannot justify paying 1000 pounds or more for GPU's anymore that get superseded once every 8+ months.

Ill just swap to second hand purchases. As long as I can continue to enjoy the likes of ED, in VR etc im happy. Not like there are many good and demanding releases these days.

This is appalling, CCL should know better as it's up to them to set an example that scalping should not be tolerated.

I for one am just waiting with my 2070s for another year or so until supply catches up. All the people who bought cards at ridiculous prices are going to feel it again when the next gen cards bring the resell value down by to 25%.

CCLs' prices have been insane for a while now - not just Nvidia, but AMD too.

Oddly enough though, I got my 3070 Suprim from them for £535 shortly after it launched - last time I looked they wanted £900 for the same card. I really hope your reaching out to the makers directly can help do something about this sort of thing.

I've completely given up my hardware hobby this year. The prices are just getting astronomical. For the price of a GPU worth upgrading to I've managed to pay for a motorcycle, safety gear and training. I know what I'm having more fun with too. When prices come back to sane levels I'll consider upgrading my PC, but until then nobody in the hardware sector is getting a penny out of me.

tbh articles like this, I wish OC3D and all other hardware sites shared the details amongst one another instantly to set a large scale awareness and hopefully cause quite an impact on reputation in a short space of time.

If Bit-tech, KitGuru, OC3D etc all shared this information, it would alert more of the public to these shady practises.

Good for you mate. I've gotten big into the gym. That's been difficult with Ireland having the longest lockdowns in the entire world, but I've still enjoyed it more than PC's.
