DLSS and Ray Tracing are coming to DOOM Eternal this month

You're probably not wrong ^_^

Considering it's on Vulkan though the situation may not be terrible, Now imagine if ED got RT lighting and reflections :o

planetary RTX Ray tracing would cripple the worlds biggest super computer :D

Imagine getting close to one of the countless suns hah

If you look on the info section on the right of the screenshot it says the VRAM amount is 12GB, I'm guessing then that it's a 3080 Ti used for that pic.

Considering we lost a good chunk of performance with Odyssey for no actual visual improvement, RT would likely cripple performance even more down to the single digits XD

I think Odyssey will improve. They admitted its not optimised as well as they would like so expect to see things get better. DLSS I dont think is needed as its not that demanding. Raytracing would have been nice though. Imagine those god rays shining through the canopy as you turn and rotate, in and out of the light. :yumyum:

ok maybe DLSS would be needed for the raytracing but still. gimme gimme. I want it all.

I'd just like to know what they did as visuals have not increased yet performance for some has tanked by 50%, They messed something up.

When flying in space you don't need to render much.

When on a planet you need to render everything. Makes sense.

Haven't played it yet but if it's in space too then my guess is they are pre loading data for visitable planets in the system causing very high load on CPU cycles and IO streaming. Causing a bottleneck at the CPU and or memory.
