Nvidia may have delayed its RTX 3080 Ti until mid-May

I feel like this card doesn't belong anywhere. The only reason it exists is because of the 6900XT, which realistically is still only about as fast as a 3080 on average. The 3090 is still the fastest and most advanced consumer graphics card, and the 3080 is still Nvidia's best graphics card to buy for enthusiast gaming. I'd rather a 3080 over a 6900XT basically any day because of DLSS, RT, and other software advancements. The only day I'd rather a 6900XT is if I was planning on keeping the card for many, many years at 4k and if I played exclusively something like Borderlands 3.

So far the main reason for 3080 Ti's existence has been revenue for rumour mill websites and youtube channels. :D

I think at 4k for some people this card might be a want but not a need, the 3080 does better at 4k than the 6800XT but at 1440p the 6800XT is better, as for DXR Nvidia do have the advantage.

As someone that has a 6800XT I'll not be going back to Nvidia anytime soon, DXR performance might not be the fastest but it sure gets the job done and bare in mind they are pretty much all Nvidia optimised games. Then comes DLSS it's gotten better but AMD are working on their own and i'm hearing 2X the boost, I'll just have to wait and see how good or bad it is later in the year, but 99% of titles don't use DXR or DLSS so i'll be blunt atm it's pointless argument, as for future games by the time that happens on mass the current cards will be a joke as the coming generations will trounce them.

imo this card is a want not a need and it doesn't fit into the segment very well, if cards were at msrp personally if i was going to get an Nvidia card i'd save the extra for a 3090 if i'm going to pay out that much.

What peope need to realize is that it's been literally 4 years since AMD really revolutionzed the CPU market and only recently started with the GPU market as well.

How long have Nvidia been in this space? They are also only doing GPUs, AMD is fighting two battles and is being a much smaller company. During this time, Nvidia has had time to evolve and I'm sure in time, AMD will kick Nvidia's ass - just like they did to Intel.

Just look at Intel, 100X bigger company than AMD and yet, they've eaten the dirt and AMD has run them over with Ryzen and everything basically.

Intel today is more or less irrelevant in the CPU market due to the flexibility and pure performance of Ryzen.

I honestly feel that most should wait for the next gen it's maybe a year away and the newer cards going by what little info is out there, they are going to be big and chiplet design we could be looking at twice the performance least from the little i know on AMD's side.

The issue is the prices will be really crazy i feel, i really like my 6800XT playing at 1440p is sweet af :) The main thing that is stopping me from selling it at some crazy price is i'd not have a card and i won it doesn't feel right, but it's such a high price it could pay for my next gen, so all that in mind i'll just wait it out see what happens at the time rather than giving into being a scum bag :D

I kinda feel as much as people are right that Nvidia are ahead and all the reasons, it's in my view not really fair to dis AMD so hard that i see, they have only just got back into the high end first time in ages and regardless have done very well, the cards are strong i've had no driver issues so have nothing to complain about but i think it's a perspective and some are just too big an Nvidia fan to really give AMD a chance.

Nvidia do one thing right marketing they are really good at hype, but as gamers you shouldn't be blind to it, cause atm either company has a good batch of cards, it's just the prices and stock that are the real issue, but demand is really high they are both selling a ton of cards.

The 3080ti was always going to happen cause so many want it, the issue is i don't feel anyone needs it, get a 3090 it's already out cost a bit more but it'll be a much better card cause i have to admit going from 10gb upto 12gb is in my view being a bit cheap.

Where as my 6800XT ok the ram is slightly slower but your not find me complaining about the 16GB vram :D

I did find one game that almost maxxed it least in some form resident evil 3 at a far far higher resolution which was totally pointless but it did look nice :)

the 3080ti just really should have more vram in my view even if it was to cost a little more cause they are basically going to give you a few more shaders and 2gb extra for the difference of $300 let alone how much your need to pay when the stock is scalped.

That's different. Nvidia can call on companies like TSMC, Samsung, and even Global Foundries to manufacture their designs. Intel would be FAR more competitive if their 10nm hadn't had so many issues or if they relied on other silicon. Their first 10nm CPUs were supposed to come out in late 2016/early 2017, right around when Zen first came out.
