MSI RTX 3090 Gaming X Trio Review

If the claw-hammer performance of the RTX 3080 isn't enough for you, you crazy person, then maybe the RTX 3090 in MSI Gaming X Trio format will be the card to sate your desires.

Well that is me pulling out for the 3090 purchase. I truly hoped that the leaked benchmarks were pre alpha drivers etc. Its impressive numbers, but the jump over a 3080 is just too small.

But, yeah it saves me a ton of cash im not even sure I want to bother with a 3080. Maybe ill pick up another 2080ti gaming X for hopes that Cyberpunk 2077 will support SLI.. one can hopefully dream.

However a question for TTL.

There are reports from many users of frequent crashes during gaming on the 3080. Perhaps you can verify if you experience the same for either 3080 or 3090. Perhaps thats for WYP to look into testing?

So far there is no word from Nvidia, but it seems the internet is awash with similar complaints.

Agree with you Warchild I was hoping the 3090 was going to be better, and whilst it is a decent bit better than the 2080Ti, it's not £1400 - £1900 worth of better.

I will be skipping this series unless I have to replace a card due to a failure.

It will be interesting to see the AMD Card's reviews now.

If what's out there is correct the 3070 being 2080 performance, than it's not a big enough jump to upgrade my card, the 3080 for 1440 is double the fps so would be a nice upgrade but the difference between that and the 3090 i'd be hard to justify £250 over the 3080.

With your analogy with cars what card does the ford cortina driver get?

I think the 10xx users have a fantastic deal on their hands which ever way they go
3080 <-- --> 3090

but for 20xx, im not so sure. It goes back to the usual skip every other generation way of upgrading. Who knows though, more products will come. Now ill happily wait for AMD Big NaaaVEEEE

So this replaces the Titan RTX... without some of the features that Titan cards have been known for. And the 3080 replaces the 2080Ti, but has less VRAM.

AMD really have a chance to steal some market share from Nvidia.

I honestly think its a given. But, they have to get some good launch ready drivers.

Indeed. I'm on 1080ti @1440p and while I do not suffer now, a 3080 just seems like the way to ensure I dont end up in that situation any time soon AND get to play around with RTX and DLSS "for free" with the chance of a few games actually makes sensible use of it.

Now, if only there were available...

Perhaps someone knows this : What is the outlook regarding more FE cards? I have only heard about partner cards on restock situation - but not a word on FE at all.

Without doubt Big navi is coming for that card in my view Nvidia haven't done enough.

Time will tell but even early rumours last year were that amd were aiming at 50% above a 2080ti.

Oct 28th can't come soon enough but first amd have to take that single threaded performance crown from Intel
