Free Office Suite LibreOffice 7.0 is now available for Windows, macOS and Linux

Do you really need to pay for Microsoft Office?

For those that don't know, if you have aMS account you can still use Office for free. You can use the browser based versions which have the same functionality and uses cloud storage upto 5GB I believe (more than enough for most people). If you want the application you need to pay. No reason to though.


On the other hand if you just don't want it Libre isn't bad at all

The company I work for pays for MS Office so I just use that license since it's good for like 5 devices for one Office 365 profile.

Yeah personally a long time LibreOffice exclusive user despite having accessing to a free MS Office license, admittedly I just need something I can write up reports/documentation in rather than anything fancy but the no thrills, universal experience that I can install on all my devices without anymore messing around beyond that and without any bloat has always been enough for me. If it's good enough for national governments and councils across the world it's good enough for me I guess.

This is crazy. I've just had a friend calling me this afternoon asking about .doc file formats and how to edit them for free. I of course immediately pointed them to Libre Office. I haven't seen anything about LO for years, and this this article shows up right after!

For my businesses I use something better. OPENOFFICE. I put it on every PC I build wither they want it or not. I find that OO has a better layout and less bloat.
