Amazon lists AMD's Ryzen 5 3600XT and Ryzen 9 3900XT processors

They just want to steal some thunder from Intel's release. Intel did the same with 9900KS. Also because B550 was very late they just want to give people some reason to buy B550 instead of waiting a few months for Zen 3.

They're not trying to steal Intel's thunder. Intel doesn't have any. Maybe some drizzle.

They are just being greedy and keeping prices high. At least see it for what it is.

Speed bump

Think AMD are offering an incremental ugrade for those on 350/450/370/470 boards who won't otherwise upgrade to 500 boards for zen3... if XT offers 10% more improvement it'll appease those wanting to hold on to what they've already got

B450/X470 boards will now support Zen3 if you havn't seen btw

But yeah if their yields have improved and a good portion of their higher spec'd chips can hit higher clocks they may as well monetise that, esp if they need a gap filler again the 10000 series till Zen3.

Actually it is a quite big disturbance for AMD.

10600K is the best gaming CPU. I don't see many people opting for AMD for gaming rigs now. OEMs will have a field day with 10600K Gaming rigs. I don't think they will sell any AMD Gaming rig until the Zen 3 launch.

Many people here are not in Music production space but 10900K rigs are popping up left and right. Very few went for Ryzen builds because of questionable thunderbolt support. Now we have tons of Z490 boards with Thunderbolt natively. Those guys alone are chasing every single 10900K in existence.

Yes if you want a powerful editing rig and don't want to spend a fortune for Threadripper Ryzen 9 is still a preferred option. But for mid-range gaming rigs where most people but I don't see anyone going for 3600/3700 Ryzen CPUs over 10600K

AMD have the majority of the marketshare of all high end CPU's sold (According to every major etailer that publishes sales figures since April and for many much longer), I can't see that dropping to 0 because Intel release a 6-core for almost twice the price of AMD's equivalent model. Intel have a value proposition but it's a super niche one, and they've lost the mindshare atm

Then look at the sales figures rather than the echo chambers

High-end will still be AMD. There is no doubt about that.

True numbers will show in the coming months. You still can't buy 10600K. None of the stores that I can purchase from have it. Not even listed. Few have 10700K listed but out of stock.

Guess it must be regional stocking issues, a lot in stock for next day delivery at UK etailers atm.

£280 tho, most gamers arn't going to be buying £200+ CPUs, look at any marketshare figures or hardware surveys or whatever and £150-£200 is the sweet spot for "high end enough" for most gamers.

Think you need to be in one of those special cases to justify spending £140 extra (Almost double the cost!) over a 3600 just for slightly higher single threaded perf, when most will want that money for a better GPU.

You are cherry picking, without considering the actual facts.

OEMs will not use 490 boards. Most won't be able to be overclocked at all, meaning it will actually end up slower than the 3600. They will also probably use lacklustre coolers (or stock as usual).

And then of course there is the elephant in the room - the price.

By the time you buy one with a 490 board etc? it's totally not worth it. Maybe if they had priced out AMD whilst offering more performance (as AMD have done ever since Ryzen came along) then fair enough.

OEMs will keep Intel afloat, but not because their products are better. Like I said, you can't cherry pick. Intel are hotter, use more power, slower IPC, more expensive boards and etc. They have higher clock speeds which is good for gaming but that is one thing out of all of them.

Oh and before you say it, no B460 or 410 are not really an option if you want all of that performance because Intel have hobbled the RAM speed.

OEMs will use, at best, B460 boards. So those systems will perform wildly differently to proper Z490 systems. Then again it is always like that. OEM rigs are usually poo and nothing like a high end build. Problem again, high end build. Because that is what 10600k becomes when you factor in all of the extra expense. One that is good for one purpose only.
