That's the cost of innovation. If things start moving quickly, it doesn't take long for new hardware to become obsolete.
I'm not saying that your RX 5700 will become a bad graphics card anytime soon. It's just that if AMD actually starts to properly compete with Nvidia, the price/performance ratio of new cards will start to get a lot better.
For reference, consider AMD's 4-core i7-7700K and Intel's 6-core i7-8700K. Released within a year of each other, and the i7-8700k released at basically the same price with higher clock and 50% more cores.
I want AMD to start pushing Nvidia Ryzen style, but that will force more frequent GPU upgrades.

And also if you keep waiting for the next best model...there will always be a new model coming out...and another one...
