Looks fantastic, I'm just hoping that, Electrically at least, There isn't much of a difference between this and the Hero outside of the waterblock, OLED readout screen and extra zone lighting, As much as I like the look of this board I couldn't justify the "rumoured" price of this over the Hero.

Take with a pinch of salt but early info has this board at $699, So around €620.

$330 over Hero is way too much. You can almost buy 2 Heros for the price of 1 Formula. That is insane.

Agreed. Even with the included water cooling, that's badly overpriced.

i would pay it when it would need no chipset cooler.

the preview i have seen are not promising when it comes to the chipset cooling.
maybe asus can do it better but the one i saw (MSI) was already semi passive.

haha bring back chipset blocks.

That wee fan would drive me crazy. I totally understand why it's there because PCIE 4 is insane but man, yeah, nope....

I'd still rather buy a Hero and put a proper monoblock on it.

If this was Extreme, and had 10G i would understand the price. Then have Formula bang in the middle between Extreme, and Hero.

I think Formula, and Hero would perform almost the same, and with a monoblock on Hero you will get better cooling, cleaner looks, and ~$180 in your pocket (not including the price of CPU block for Formula).

who pays more for a motherboard vs

Who buys a motherboard that costs more than the cpu and ram combined? Crosshair vii costs $260? Does the PCIe plus heatsink, board. pcie 4.0, power, and x570 chip cost that much to warrant the premium cost?
This better overclock to 5.2 ghz on all cores!

You are kinda missing the point here. You won't buy this board and pair it with 3600X with stock cooler, 16 GB of RAM, put it in a $80 case, and call it a day without trying to overclock.

This is for R9, 64GB of RAM, some very nice open loop cooling, and overclocking the bejesus out of your CPU. And motherboard will make your life very easy in the process.

High end ROG boards, although expensive have always been, in a way, worth the money. Either through sheer power, performance, looks, enthusiast factor, features, ASUS BIOS. The point that we are discussing here is that this ROG board just isn't.

Rampage VI Extreme, and every predecessor, is, are, was, were, and will be the best motherboard for the platform. No ifs, ends, or buts... The best full stop. No competition, no compromise. No matter how expensive it may be, there are no complaints. It is worth the money. We need to see the test results, but this Formula is probably just a faint image of what Formula name stands for.

Buildzoid was rambling about this in his Maximus XI Apex breakdown video. For example Maximus XI Apex is worth £320. It has probably the best VRM on Z390, and you know it is tailor made to push your CPU to the rugged edge. Other ROG boards in the range are just riding on the glory of the previous legends.
