I hope this is a blinding success, just to set an example that when we have something without loot boxes or MT, we are willing to praise EA for a good product.

Could be the best one since Jedi Knight. That was awesome that game.

I'm trying not to get hyped. My guess will be that if there are Microtransactions and not loot boxes we'll get 33% of a game with the remainder being DLC. EA have not suddenly had a change of heart here, theres still plenty of cash to be had from that cow just gotta change the label from Loot box to DLC

Well I am trying to be positive. We are so quick to slam repeat offenders these days that we instantly think the worst every time. Ubisoft still provide products with MT but, imo they have drastically turned around their portfolio.
They had disaster after disaster with bugs and issues (AC Unity and the skeletal faces) but now we see more open betas, more testing and more success (AC Origin, Division 2, Anno xxxx).

Dragon Age Inquisition had a lengthy single player campaign and successful DLC which imo were valued purchases and not something I would expect in the main content Day 1 purchase.

If we get something along those lines, I will be happy.

Agreed, though I don't think that we have had an EA release since then that hasn't had the microtransactions/ Lootboxes. This is also on Unreal engine so they got that overhead to pay where DAO was on the frostbite engine.
The way things have been in gaming the last 5 years have left me a bit cynical and I expect a very hazy line in the terms Microtransaction and DLC in a "No this pack of different coloured lightsabers are not microtransactions they are DLC" kinda way

Well I don't see anything wrong with cosmetic MT. Elite dangerous is making a fortune on it, and providing free DLC as a result of the success. Things that become Pay to win however is what destroys the product.

We will see what happens. Long way to go before release, and it doesnt consider possible delays.

I agree with cosmetic only MT's, they don't affect the gameplay or your ability to play the game, just change the appearance of items be it weapons or armour etc.

Unfortunately you are mistaken with one thing I believe, there has been no free DLC for Elite Dangerous nor is there any planned for it.

The only DLC IIRC was Horizons which was paid for and as much as I like Elite Dangerous, it didn't deliver what I was hoping by the end of it.

I know they have done the "Beyond Series" which people are calling DLC but it's not, it's just game patches to address issues with the game, other than adding in more and more things that require hundreds of hours, worth of game time to obtain dependent on you RNG.

The thing is that Frontier are working on the next DLC which apparently is not going to come till sometime next year (2020) and will be a paid for DLC, for me if they do not add the ability to walk around stations and landing on Earth Like and Water worlds, then I cannot see me going back to it because it's just to much of a grind fest for me now, spend hours driving around a planets surface looking for material to engineer only to find maybe 2 or 3 lots of it but need 100 or more for each ship.

I know a few people who bought the lifetime pass, and I would have as well if I had, had the money available at the time, but they all complain about lack of content for what they paid for it since all they have got is Horizons and some cosmetic stuff.

As for this Star Wars game I don't know what to think about it, on one hand I am hopeful for it and think it might do really well because it's Respawn that are working on it, and personally I think that is why there has been no Titanfall 3 and instead we got Apex because they have been spending most of there time on the Star Wars game.

On the other hand though it's a EA published title so I really do believe that, they are going to add in MT's and loot boxes after a month or so with the excuse of "sales did not meet the target, so we have no choice but to add this in for future development of content for the game"

Only time will tell but I am keeping an eye on it.

Ah yes good point. Initially it was a paid DLC, but my purchase of ED was inclusive of that.

What I was referring to were the additional chapters that they have introduced over the past year or so, which I believe were free. I havent played it for a while.

Yeah "Beyond" was done in chapters but it wasn't really a DLC, yes it added more content to some extent but not a great deal, but merely it fixed issues with boring gameplay and changed the way the game is played.

Such as when you are exploring, you can now do a "Honk" much like you could before but you now open up a new scanner and scan each planet from within that, to do what was a "Detailed Surface Scan" and that will get your name against it for one thing but then if you want your name against for everything then you have to fly to it like the old way and scan it.

Overall it just made it easier to play for new comers and they made some quality of life improvements but missed the objective as far as I am concerned because they were focused on changing stuff to, meet the demands of those who can sink 12 hours plus a day in to the game.

I will go back to Elite at some point, but when I do not know.

This Star Wars game if it's good is where I am leaning towards now with the games I want to play, more single player only so I don't have to put up people who are just looking to grief.
