Jedi: Fallen Order was build using Unreal Engine 4, not Frostbite

Respawn is finally moving away from the Source engine.

Read more about Jedi: Fallen Order and its use of Unreal Engine 4.

Wonder if that means it will go straight to the Epic store as an exclusive for a while

EA owns Respawn and holds the Star Wars license. I doubt they would let this release anywhere outside of Origin.

It's owned by EA so I don't think it will be sold anywhere other than Origin.

People will complain about Epic being exclusive yet EA does it all the time with Origin.

The argument for why that's ok is that EA as the Publisher and chances are own the developer, so have the right to release only on their own store front. TBH I'm surprised these days that Steam gets any Ubi or EA Activision games considering they all have a known storefront maybe it's something we will see more of, steam and Epic only getting Indy titles on their stores

It's a bad argument. You cannot argue against exclusivity and then allow other storefronts to do it. EA is one of the worst large companies in the world and it's acceptable and people don't care.
Then seeing comments like "it's not on steam so I won't buy it" yet I can bet with 100% certainty that they have all played Assassin's Creed, which is on Uplay, Fortnite on Epic store, Battlefield or Apex which is on Origins, etc.
It's a dumb argument.
Then they say it's because they sell there data. Everything sells your data. Even if you have a "smart refrigerator" it'll sell your data.

Bad arguments all around. Then review bombing older titles is just petty.

I for one am excited about this new Star Wars game. I won't even care where it's going to be purchasable. And I bet no other gamer will either even though it'll be exclusive to Origins.

I was just about to post how I'll never even touch it because I know what EA games are like, but then I read this: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/st.../1100-6466229/

And it's all I needed to hear. Respawn are great devs. If anyone can make a great single player game, it's those guys.

EA doesn't deserve our attention! They may as well just close the doors and allow all their studios to be independent. Maybe we can get something good out of this situation. Or maybe we'll just stay where we are at. Even if all their studios close the door alongside I'd peesonally be relieved, there would be no chance that EA's bad legacy would just keep screwing up with our videogames.
