I know Z370 boards have now gotten support for all of the 9000 series but my main interest is single threaded performance and seeing if it's improved at all from the already high 8700K, If it's not I'll stick with the 8700K.

Yeah I'm sticking with mine for sure; no sense in spending a couple of hundred for a marginal - if any - improvement. Wish Intel kept it the 8 series though, this is confusing for the casual buyer, I imagine.

I was literally just about to post that. It's so true. Ever since Ryzen came out everything they have done has just been confusing AF.
Amazing really. You would expect that a massive player like Intel, who have been cutting throats for decades, would have everything planned and know just what to do. But it's all just been a mess. It's like every one into tech knew Ryzen was coming and what it was about, apart from Intel lmao. They really have just been completely clueless.
