An Update on ASUS' ROG Swift PG27UQ G-Sync HDR 4K 144Hz Monitor

Yep, not a monitor that is worth it in my eyes. Especially after reading up on HDR and with the price tag of $2000-3000? Yeah, a hard pass for me. Especially also after knowing how bad QC ASUS ROG monitors usually have.

4K needs 32" as a minimum, 27" is way too small and while some games in 4K look nice I personally don't think the grunt needed for them is worth it over 1440P.

Hopefully by late 2019/early 2020 this type of monitor will be more affordable since that's when I'll be doing a full upgrade on my whole setup. Maybe even GPUs will be able to hit a solid 120Hz/144Hz framerate at this resolution and decent settings.

Damn dude, I salute you for your patience.

This monitor is just for bragging, nothing more. 144FPS @4k is a thing of the future and I'm talking about 2 or even 3 gens of GPUs right here... By the time our rigs will be able to output such high framerates at such resolutions, there will be more, better and cheaper monitors than this one.

The general price tag of G-Sync products is just disgusting... I'd like a 1080p 21.6" G-Sync 144Hz monitor for an AFFORDABLE price, but nooooope...

And that's the kicker right there. Monitors launch far too early, so by the time you can get it doing what you want it to they have already moved on to something else.

It's one of the worst things now tbh. I mean before it was GPUs, CPUs etc. "What if I buy now and something else comes out next month?" but monitors are THE worst thing now. They're practically impossible to buy in the first place due to all of the different types, syncs, panels etc and then when you do get one you get hamstringed within a few months.

Also having to choose sucks balls. Like, Freesync or Gsync. Reminds me of the days before X58 where you had to actually choose a motherboard based on your GPUs. And then you were stuck with it.
