more clocks and ipc is whats needed now to keep Intel on their toes.

IPC is fine, it's clocks they need. Broadwell E IPC plus a bit more of a bonus because SMT is better than HT was never a bad thing. But yeah, moar clocks prease.

Nice !

I'll keep my Crosshair VI Hero as it's rock solid and plop in the top end AM4 chip they release, I only run 1 x M.2 drive and 1 x GPU so X470 would be a little useless and wasted money.

We've heard this before

Looking forward to it. As much as I would love to switch to this new chip from my 6700k I know for a fact I won't have the funds too.

I would urge a bit of restraint, the 1800x is nowhere near worth its money compared to the 1700 and i get the impression it wont be much different with the next lot

It's worth it if you don't want to overclock or can't figure overclocking out quickly. And tbh? that means about 90% of the market.

1800X is at 8700k prices, though.

I am looking forward to the new chipsets. I am totally happy with my 1800X, just not the sensors on the Hero. I really hope they correct that.
