AMD has increased their R&D budget by almost 22% in the past year

More R&D means greater products moving forward.

Read more on AMD's quarterly R&D budgets.

Good for you, AMD. My 1600X is doing me proud.

Still nothing in the grand scheme of things. They need to get an immense amount of efficiency per dollar spent to stay competitive. I hope a lot of it is going towards GPU R&D

Wouldn't that need to be Radeon increasing R&D to hit the GPU side? I just hope they spend it wisely before this bubble bursts. Since high end GPU's have outsold midrange on the Steam survey for the first time ever.

Where are you seeing it say high-end GPU's are outselling midrange ones?

I'm only seeing an increase in the ownership of 1060, 970, 960, 1050Ti, 750Ti the 1080 has fallen as has the 1070.. R7's and R5's have slightly come up but nothing significant.

Yeah, that's what I'm seeing as well. Edit: And some people wouldn't even consider a 1070 or 1080 to be high-end.

I would think most of it is for very distant CPU designs while the near term is for GPU designs.

The Vega sales growth is higher than the 580 or 570 for end of the month. Even the 1080Ti had less of a sales decline than the 1070.

How do you figure that? Did AMD release a statement? I didn't see it
