Nintendo's SNES Mini uses the same hardware as the NES Mini

A new external shell and a different selection of ROMs.

Read more on Nintendo's SNES Mini's internal hardware.

I think this article has a few errors in the speculation as a result of overlooking a key point- Even though the hardware is the same, the manufacturing process has completely changed to allow them to meet demand. The stopping of production was to allow them to transition to truly mass producing the hardware, as they originally didn't expect the NES Mini to sell nearly as well as it has it used a process suited to a far lower volume of products.

Look closer....they are not exactly the same. I see more caps in the section near the colored cable. Also a few differences in the board itself.
