Intel's Coffee Lake 8700K reportedly overclocks to 4.8GHz with ease

Higher overclocks are likely to require delidding.

So... nothing really new? Just less voltage on a long in the tooth mature process? Nothing surprising.

But six core @ 5+ ghz that's a lot of performance.

It's a monster, plain and simple. The go to gaming CPU. 11 days to go and I'm getting one, the only thing keeping me awake is what RAM speed. Need reviews for that first but I don't want to wait buying either. Luxury problems eh!

You seriously want to upgrade from a 6600k? Does your use case at least support that or do I have to cry over my poverty?

Hate to be the sensible one, but 7700k in your current MB? Cheaper and probably enough for what your doing
