ASUS unleashes their Crosshair VI Extreme AM4 motherboard

Sooo ... a board where the huge ATX cable mounts side on. That's something I hope filters down to lower models too.

I agree completely. Hopefully the same eventually happens for all motherboards and also the 6/8 pin connection on the top left of most motherboards too.

Would make it looks so much neater and not need to worry about leaving enough slack in the cable to not break the cables themselves inside the sleeving because of the bend.

Yup, completely making every one who said it was not possible look rather daft.

There is no reason not to do it like that apart from money. It really is as simple as that.

I actually disagree. In my building experience a right-angled jack can cause issues with stiff braided cables. If the grommet doesn't like up perfectly with the 24-pin jack then it can be a nightmare.

This.

I remember many years ago, when they used to be the way that this has it. It didn't matter then, because none really cared much about tidying cables anyway. But now it means that you have to pay very close attention to where those grommets are in your case. Prior to purchase.

Or mod a new hole in.

Looks almost identical to my Maximus XI extreme. Well I guess this IS the AMD equivalent.

And to be honest, the side ATX connector is more of a pita than normal because in two cases i have. The grommets do not line up I have half a grommet above and below, so having the connector parallel is not possible.

This should have been out in place of the Hero from the start, The Hero doesn't have enough Internal USB headers, Fan headers etc....

To be honest, I think I prefer my Crosshair VI Hero more than this one. I don't like the right angled 24-pin power connector, m.2 orientation, and the overly large I/O shield would make my rear fan impossible to mount in my case, but the massive number of fan headers is really nice.

I am really eager to see will this board push Ryzen to the limit. All boards until now were rushed in a month just to release something, and then patch the holes along the way. This one had time to be properly developed, and tested. And it is top of the range, no compromise from the best manufacturer...

Can't wait for some reviews to drop. Really wanted the Crosshair VI but after the bad reviews and trouble with it, I decided to wait. Asus is my favorite brand if motherboard and I've yet to have a problem with any of them and wanted to buy one again for my new build. I figured this was just growing pains with the new platform and Asus would right the ship pretty quick.

You would be amazed how much you can stuff behind a motherboard with a little duct tape ;)

There should be a thread called "Ghetto mods" (are you reading moderators?). I can't imagine what level of witchcraft would be posted there. :D
