X299 Motherboard problem

Haha wow, this is utterly embarrassing to see and extremely tacky from Intel/manufacturers parts... How can this even happen? Especially since all of those brands have been around for decades.

I really liked der8auer video, he seems very thorough in his tests and doesn't talk bs, just actual facts and also backs it up with proof of pictures etc.

sounds more like a classic case of design over function :).
But it,s probable that intel pulling the release date forward also didn't give the mobo manufacturers time to spot this b4 release either
 
Interesting video. Seems more like vendor faults than that of Intel since they don't design heat sinks.

I actually blame Intel for rushing the X299 out. I don't think manufacturers were given enough lead time to develop, test and improve their boards. The fact that he states all brands are the same problem, leaves me thinking that the panic of thread ripper/Ryzen etc really had Intel sweating.

That being said, if it's hitting those temps after 15mins of benchmarking/Prime95 then I suppose the manufacturers should share some of the blame.
 
Hate to say this boys but in my testing Ive had 0 throttling or hot mosftet heatsink issues.

Im actually runninng some tests with a thermometer now and not getting anything like whats reported in this video.

Also if you look in the comments JonnyGuru explains what his PSU cable issue is (and its the PSU cable connector)

Ill look into this more but I have a strange feeling something else isnt right.

If you think about the size of a Z270 heatsink and the fact they have more phases wrapping around the CPU the limited real estate the X99 & X299 boards have for power and cooling is limited. This IS also made worse by the fact SL-X also pulled more power but Ive seen nothing above what the heatsinks could cope with.

My front heatsink is 40c and the rear one is currently 52 - MUCH different to whats being seen in this video (7900x - 1.235v - 4.6GHz)

I would have liked to see how he actually tested them in the video, as in was there any airflow from fans over the heatsinks, was they installed in a case or just on a test bench and so on.

I am not going to call straight up BS but it does seem rather odd that he is saying to wait for Asus to release the "High End boards" or pay for watercooling for the boards, when as Tom has said he didn't experience any issues and I have not seen anyone else saying they experienced any issues.

Will be interesting to see how this unfolds when people start testing this themselves and posting results.
 
Im going to go out on a limb here and say -

"I think he needs to retest with a different PSU brand"

Thats the only common denominator here besides the CPU and something isnt right.

Johnny Guru shared a screenshot of why he stopped his testing too. I saw 110C on the CPU package. Perhaps theres a reason behind it but not sure. The cores themselves at least look decent. I tried to find an explanation of what we are seeing below but couldn't see any comments or answers.
