Dell's first Threadripper Pre-built system will release in late July

I read somewhere that this statement...
Through 2017, Dell will be the exclusive OEM partner to deliver AMD Ryzen Threadripper

... meant that Threadripper would not be available for the HEDT consumers until 2018 and Dell/Alienware would have exclusive use of at least the 16-core CPU until then in their pre-built monstrosities.

That wouldn't be smart move from AMD. But from what we saw until now it doesn't surprise me.

I think that just means that if you want a pre-built system with TR the only one to do it will be Dell but you will still be able to buy the actual TR CPU on it's own from retailers.

Yeah, I think so too. It would be really bad for AMD's image to have the entire community hyped for TR to then say it's exclusively available from a company many don't like.

Alienware. People like Dell because they make quality stuff, and many are wiling to pay the premium because they feel it is worth it. But some people don't like Alienware because they're really expensive and don't necessarily offer quality or services that befit such a price tag. That's my experience anyway.
