HTC announces a new VR headset

HTC has announced their first standalone VR headset, which will not require a phone, PC or any external computing device to function.

Interesting and what will be more interesting is if it has a higher resolution and refresh rate than the Vive, and if will be able to be used with PC's like the Vive.

Its not vive 2 and they told that it doesnt need a pc so probably not working with pc like vive. Vive 2 is totally different and will arrive at some point.

What is the point? Won't have the computation power to run games properly, so it's basically just a probably cheaper alternative for the porn connoisseur?

next they will drop the spec requirements and add connectivity towards your typical android phone. Before you know it, you are looking at another version of the Samsung Gear ;D

I have a gear vr (came free with the S7) and aside from giving me a headache, having the phone strapped to your face is annoying, hot and flattens your battery quickly.

I'd say this is just a phoneless version. Similar spec without the 4g etc, only works off wifi so it can be cheaper to produce and purchase.
