Not sure about that.... Basically the 4 core will compete with the I5 and the 4c 8t will compete with the I7 and then the 8c 8t will probably compete with the hex core Intel (5820k etc) and so on.
I have never tried my 8c 16t Xeon with HT disabled. Maybe if I can be bothered later I will visit bios, disable HT and see how it stacks up against having HT enabled.
I would imagine it would be close. Like 8c 8t vs 6 core HT. So the vanilla 8 will probably go up against the 6c 12t Intels
