Maybe the new AMD cpus are as good as they claim, so intel are finally going to give cpus a decent boost.

Been less than a year since a new socket right? Yeah i'd be **** too if they made another one. I think what they should do is keep the same socket for 3 gens, since they are moving to a tick tock tock cycle(or whatever it is) to keep costs down on motherboards and CPUs.. but I can dream

I wouldn't bet on it, Well Kaby Lake might be Z270, which means new motherboards.

I have a feeling with Kaby Lake it will be a whole new motherboard again, This is what intel seems to do now.

This is another reason why i want to go X99 for my next motherboard.

The end of overclocking? You've got to be kidding! Whether it's possible to eke out only another 10MHz or another 2GHz, someone somewhere will do it, and the rest of us will be eagerly watching!

If Intel force people into a new board with Zen likely to be around (meaning they need a new board either way) this could be very bad for them. At least if they make them compatible with the existing boards they may get a few sales from existing owners, but yeah, dangerous game to play with Zen on the horizon !

I think the new one is going to be something like Socket 1152 or something like that.

Well if AMD produce the goods they will really regret that. Like I say, if people have to buy a new board then they may as well go Zen, which *should* be cheaper. It's going to have to be if AMD want to sell it (though I am not expecting it to be literally cheap, just cheapER than Intel).

AMD boards part for part have always been cheaper than Intel's (mm, yummy socket tax) so if they can get Zen right and produce a good, well balanced and well priced quad they could really stir up the pot.
