I guess this will need a much larger socket than AM4 so possibly G34 or successor to G34?

hard to know really, could be an entirely custom supercomputer part for all we know.

To be fair, it's only the code allowing for 32 cores. Doesn't necessarily mean the chip is every going to get made. Do hope AMD kick arse this year though, Intel need to get their feet back on the ground.

It'll get made IMO.

One place that AMD had Intel for years was the server market. Their 16 core CPUs were nowhere near as fast as Intel's but in server land you can use as many cores as you have and to that end the opterons were fantastic value. Like half the price of a Xeon (why do you think Xeons are such ridiculous prices atm?)

They'll bring this back to the Opteron sector IMO.

Post More of a Software Optimization

For me, performance all lies now in the software application. How it will use the exisiting resources to speed things up. More cores does not mean more performance since our coding is still with single core/thread applications. Seldom we find multi core support software and this is only used on CAE or CAD softwares and Conversion and encoding softwares. If the industry wants to make faster programs, coding is the first thing we need to look into. Games are now shifting to Multi Core support. I hope that Productivity Applications do the same. With the Up Coming Zen Core Architecture, I just hope this is not the same as Bulldozer Hype... They released in the same quarter of its release year...
