Petition to remove Valve's Paid Mods gets 120,000 Signatures

A Change.org petition to remove Valve's Paid Mods from the Steam Workshop gets 120,000 Signatures. Do you think it should be replaced with a donation button?

IMO, But to me this will not work, Petitions don't work, Remember what happen with the Youtube Petition back in 2013 did that get anywhere...Nope

A donation button is the better idea.

An optional payment/donation button would be better IMO as paying for something that has no real after sales support is a little silly.

120k signatures on a general daily user base of 6 million minimum is really nothing! But i do want this mod selling to stop, its a stupid and greedy scheme.

Donation button through paypal, patreon is acceptable, donation through steam credit isnt.

Yet Valve is not obligated to do anything this petition says. They can legally ignore it, which they will, while they all complain. Also ever since the paid mods has started... look at Steams Top Seller list. Yep they don't care about this petition. To me it's not a big deal as it helps modders make money for their time and ideas. I just don't want all future modding games to turn like this.

the question comes say 2 people make similar mods that do roughly the same thing 1 get theirs out first and puts a price on it, the other releases his/hers 2 days later for free, could the first person get it taken down?. if not then what is to stop someone from taking a paid mod making a few minor changes and releasing it for free or better yet charging for it

No they couldnt, not easily as valve made it clear they wouldnt curate a damn thing on there.

But its all rather moot now, they dropped the entire thing.
