uTorrent silently installing bundled Bitcoin mining software

It seems that the BitTorrent client uTorrent has silently installed Bitcoin mining software on it's users computers, without it's users knowledge or permission. You have been warned.

Read more on uTorrent silently installing bundled Bitcoin mining software with it's client here.

I have uTorrent installed on my laptop, the version in question. I just checked and this software isn't anywhere on my install of the program?

it's install folder is likely elsewhere if it is on your PC, I would advise checking you CPU usage.

Btw, right alt + m

But yeah that's bull. Good thing I don't have it auto start on Windows start up and certainly not auto-update.

For the last few years utorrent was becoming a mess anyway and i was already using an older version of it to stay clear of it, now it will never be on any of my computers ever.

I'm pretty shocked they would do this and not expect people to notice.

Besides, with ASICs now available and growing ever faster does this even achieve much? CPU mining was always dreadful, even years back when the difficulty was lower.

Would this program be using Java? I have noticed that java on my pc is using 30-40% of my cpu sometimes in task manager.

Switching Torrent software?

Honestly I hope µTorrent lose a tonne of people because of this = less in-program ads = less money.
