New GPU(s) £600

Hi,

Don't know what to do, currently have 7850 (had CF but sold second 7850 did not have micro-shuttering issues, not sure whats the story with 280xCF)

What i need is 120fps (120Hz monitor 1080p) in BF4 (only game i play) and i don't know what card(s) to buy. 280x CF or 770 SLI is a cheap option (i know that 280x is 7970Ghz and 770 is 680)

290 in CF is "no go" due to heat/noise and power consumption (i have only Seasonic 750W) and no idea when i can expect non-reference versions (maybe Dec/Jan)

780TI - don't think that will get me where i want to be with fps.

Spec;

[email protected] with H100i
Seasonic X750W
Asus Hero
Storm Trooper
8GB Ram
Benq lx2411t

So, the card is only for BF4 with ultra settings (no AA, don't see the benefit when playing online) I don't want to spend more than £600.

Any ideas ?

I'm in a similar situation and I believe either a) two of these, which OC'd can just about hit 780 performance and as such are flying off the shelves b) a 7990 c)2x 770s(4gb). In terms of battlefield both the AMD options would do really well due to goodish drivers but the Nvidia ones are the least likely to give headaches with other games.

HD 7990, can be had at a bargain and is the fastest card available bar none.

280X CF would be the best option with Mantle in mind I reckon. Or 7990, if it is significantly cheaper.

The 280x you linked are really loud but i think after OC two of them will beat 780TI.
770 4Gb are expensive, not far from 780...
7990 don't like the cooler on them

AMD has mantle - not sure what that will do but i'm sure it will make some difference.

These are quieter, at the expense of slightly less OC head room: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3gb-a...i-d-hdmi-dport

Also, two 270x can slightly beat a 780 therefore two 280x should in therory atleast keep up with a 780ti.

Two 280Xs (rebadged HD7970s) will beat a 780ti easy.

Sapphire Toxic 280x is on par with a 780. Try and get your hands on 2 of them and annihilate a 780ti.

I have seen this posted a lot and it is a bit of a misinterpretation.

IIRC it was an overclocked Toxic 280x gets close to a stock GTX 780. If we remember the GTX 780 is also an excellent overclocker this leaves quite a bit of distance between the two cards.

You can also make the same argument for the HD 7970 (rebadged as the 280X) my Asus Matrix Platinum 7970s can give the stock GTX 780s a run for their money.

Having said all that the Toxic 280X looks like a top notch card.
