PCI Express 3.0 pushed back one year

With it taking a 4870X2 or GTX295 just to start showing the age of even an 8x lane PCIe slot, I don't think we are needing PCIe 3.0 too soon.

16x lanes of PCIe 2.0 is more than enough for the future. Although it might pose a problem for those wanting to run Crossfire or SLI on P55 boards when the GTX3xx and HD5xxx range come out. I guess we will have to see just how much the high end cards from each camp can output.

The P55 chipset only allows 8x 8x PCI express 2.0 crossfire or SLI, so there will be problems if you want to use high end cards (GTX3950000 or whatever crazy name it will be)

imho this isn't such a bad thing. they are still developing neat things and refreshing their products, it's just there will be more time between refreshes. we could have had P55 here already if Intel had sold more P35/P45 boards. as they prepaire for less demand they could lower supply and thus start hitting supply/demand points again.

what would be bad news is, "PCIe v3 cancelled due to recession" !
