Like to see this run up against something like an MSI 8xxx series card that already has HDMI audio spdif pass-through.

Hmm perhaps against a 2900XT, that does 5.1 onboard??

So this is a video and audio out card? Am I understanding correctly?

how exactly does the video side of things work on this beast?

Does it complement my grfx card? Or is it a card that specifically deals with things like AVI etc (dealing with upscaling, and pc blu-ray drives)?
