As for the DX9 version we won’t have physics and day and night cycle in-game. That means you won’t be able to shoot down trees and/or alter any other objects than vehicles on the map. Additionally the time of day setting doesn’t change dynamically. This is caused due to the tremendous server load such physics might cause on crowded gaming servers. Still you will be able to experience maps with different time of day settings since the maps can be altered in the Sandbox2 Editor.

Rather than providing the community partially working features we limit this for the DX10 version only. Due to the strong hardware available with DX10, server load is less and performance is increased. This ensures the pure physics and day and night cycle experience without any limitation.

It's genius! Well, on their part. Totally sucks for us. But very smart for them to do. Good grief I can't wait for this game. Can't say Microsoft will complain. Just another reason for people to buy Vista. Oh well, I think I am going to get it soon. It seems inevitable.

From mindlessly looking through the last XP install my last game pc had on it. (has a fair number of recent games installed on it - no dx10 patches or anything) I noticed dx10`something`.dll.

I look at it`s present install, that`s only had Rise of Nations on it, and it`s no longer there.

That pc doesn`t do OS updates or anything, but did have to upd8 it`s DX9.0c from a game or 2 (medieval total war2 + upd8s/World ` Conflict), cos apparently the DX9.0c that it already had wasn`t good enough ?!?!?

It`s strange, I mean I`ve not seen anything officially released or anything, but it just happened. Stoopid thing about Win OS is that it could be a work-around a game company had come out with for something and u wouldn`t know.
