Is there any tech info regarding this sound change effing existing soundcards ? Or we relying on the likes of Creative to do a driver job ?

Cos quite frankly Creative and upd8ing drivers doesn`t go together too well.

New stuff will be fine I have no doubt.

I believe this just to be a different way of rendering your sound right? So all cards should work. Or maybe im to tired to think straight.

Yeah, you would think that it would at least render in software. I can't help thinking that the main 'benefit' is to make it easier to port games between 360 and PC.

I think the main point is that all of Creative's cards extra features will be totally useless...unless by some miracle they make it work for them

By the way, who said anything about new hardware? Wasn't Microsoft's purpose of changing the audio stack (in Vista) in the first place was to make it all software? And who said it had to be a new "standard"? Wasn't Creative trying to make their products a "standard" because they owned the rights to EAX (and only letting others use EAX 1-2). But it never did. It just sounds like Microsoft is excluding Creative by making their own EAX-like thing.

By the way, it would probably be the motherboard and audio chip manufacturers cashing in on this. But unless I get more info about this and I find out I need a new motherboard, then I'll be ed. Because I haven't heard of any sound card companies talking about releasing a card that supports these new features. Last big news I heard was that Creative was licensing its EAX technology.

By the way, this is just all speculation on my part.
