New Ethernet Standard

The Higher Speed Study Group (HSSG) has approved a Project Authorisation Request for a new standard, dubbed IEEE 802.3ba, which will propel Ethernet to speeds up to 100Gbps.

I never see more than 10Mb/s at home any way

This is more for local area networks!

Really? On your LAN? :eh:

I swear everytone should be running at least 100Mb/s now.. Oh wellz.. I was just about to upgrade to 1Gb/s.

File transfer gets me down.

Yea seriously. Most people say you cant fill up a gigabit line and that its not exactly neccesary right now but i call BS. When i head to LANs we all have gigabit switchers and gigabit interfaces with all Cat6 cables. My server gets bogged down by network lag lol. Dual gigabit interface and 100% network usage. File sharing is a pita and this could be an awesome upgrade. Lets hope it dosent cost a whole lot and thecards are on PCI-E.

Agreed sadly most new things tend to start off in the silly area in regards to cost.

Just to let you guys know, I doubt you will be running this on cat6 or any other twisted pair cable. If you can you will probably get around 10 feet max lol.
