Sneak Peak - Google Teases their Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro Smartphones

I'm testing one of these at the moment. All I can say is, what an absolute delight to use. One of my favorites so far.

I'd love to hear more of your thoughts even though I know you can't say lol

Been using Pixels since 4a. Currently been through a few and now on a 6 Pro. One of the best phones I've ever used.

I cant say anything specific. But users upgrading from the previous Gen (dont care what future reviewers will say) would still be a great upgrade. From our own inhouse tests, its smashing everything out of the water.

I even love this ridged lens going across the back because it means the phone stays sturdy when you lay it flat on its back e.g. on a desk. I get annoyed laying down the Galaxy/iphone and pushing on the screen for it to be wonky or rock back and forth as it pivots on the camera in the corner.

What I still have no clue about though is the price. They added a feature or two (NDA) that does improve the day to day use without it being branded as a gimmick.

I bought a 7a in July and I am in love with it.

If you had asked "is it worth upgrading" I would say yes in a heart beat.

My only opinion again, subjective. I have always enjoyed the larger sized phones, however this one feels too big. So I think many will be happy with the "standard" size. I certainly felt more comfortable with the smaller of the two, as it allowed me to maintain usage with a single hand and navigate with the thumb.

I am the opposite when it comes to phone size.

The reason why I got a Pixel 7a was threefold:
1) size
2) clean Android
3) price

I will absolutely not get a phone larger than the 7a. I have small hands and I like to be able to use the phone with one hand. I also want it to fit in my pocket easily.

I also will not buy a phone unless it comes with mostly clean Android. My last phone was a Motorola with Android One OS, so it was mostly clean Android and I loved that. But it was a pretty unremarkable phone otherwise.

The Pixel 7a is actually the most expensive phone that I have ever owned. I am not a heavy phone user, so I never needed an expensive phone. In fact, before the 7a, I had never bought a phone that was more expensive than 250 EUR. But literally no other phone exists in my neck of the woods that covers all the things that I want from a phone. I also needed a more powerful phone for work, and since I am doing pretty well financially I figured, what the hell, it will last me a while anyway. And then, 15 days after I bought it, I received a bonus from work that nullified that expense several times over :)

And I am so very, very happy with this phone. I love the design, too. I got the blue "Sea" variant and it's just a remarkable little device.

Thats the point I was making. This new flagship is too big even for my liking. I have large hands and still found myself not able to navigate single handed like I usually do.

But aside from that. I will be a little sad when I have to put this back in the safe, or move on to the next prototypes. (unless I purchase one for myself of course) :D

So you are saying in your subjective opinion the Pro is to large and the regular P8 is more suited to large hands? That's crazy. This P6 Pro is about the absolute limit of what my hands can handle(I wear large gloves but can fit in XLarge gloves without issue). I can't imagine anything bigger especially once a case gets on it.

No no. Im saying that given the design, weight, the portuding "bar" across this back of the phone, and googles natural choiced size for the typical flagship, I preferred the smaller variant, which is still a fair size anyway.

Its a little hard to describe without pictures or details as I dont think the dimensions have been officially announced.

my phones 10 years old and the battery is on the way out I was thinking of getting the 7A or pro, but as this is coming out in less than a month I may wait and see what the price is, If it's too much I may get lucky as the 7 prices should drop
